IGBF Recycling Drive

Over the last five years the IGBF and Textile Recycling Ltd (TRL) have run a textile recycling partnership and a target was set to raise €100,000 for the fund.

So far we have raised €59,000 and we need your help to hit this target figure as quickly as possible.

The workings for this partnership are:

  • Retailers agreed to place a textile recycling bank branded with Pieta House on their premises and for this TRL pay on their behalf €200 per annum.
  • This is an ongoing payment and reviewed yearly
  • All costs associated with placement of the recycling will be borne by TRL.
  • This placement fee is for new sites only
  • There are currently 49 banks placed under this partnership and the IGBF have received €59,000 over the last five years as a site placement fees.
  • We need more new sites to hit the target of €100,000

Background to TRL & Pieta House

TRL is a wholly owned and managed Irish company which was established in 1993 and operates and services under licence with over 1200 Pieta House Ireland textile recycling banks nationally and 49 of these banks were placed with the backing of the IGBF.

As of August 2016 Textile Recycling Limited (TRL) and Pieta House have entered a partnership agreement. On foot of this sponsorship agreement, Textile Recycling Limited manages all of the collection, maintenance and trading risks associated with operating the Pieta House branded clothes bank network owned by Textile Recycling Limited.

This sponsorship agreement helps raise awareness of Pieta House’s work and helpline number throughout the country. Pieta House is paid up front and in full on foot of this agreement regardless of whether a profit or loss is made by Textile Recycling.

Pieta House, the centre for the prevention of self-harm and suicide opened its doors a decade ago with Lucan in County Dublin the centre of operations. In the intervening years they have seen and helped over 20,000 people in suicidal distress or engaging in self-harm, and established eight subsequent centres, three in the greater Dublin area – Ballyfermot, Tallaght and Dublin North and five further centres to cater for the rest of the country in Limerick, Cork, Tipperary, Galway, Kerry, Waterford.
